CHA Summer Highlights
We're just back in town after a whirlwind week in Chicago at the CHA Summer Trade Show. One of our new members requested that we demonstrate ways to use alcohol inks.
There are several ways to use alcohol inks but it is quite frequently used to create backgrounds or to color various items such as glass, metal, acetate, paper flowers, or buttons.
Ranger's Tim Holtz has several demonstrations on how to use alcohol inks.
Bring your alcohol inks, mixatives, felt tip applicators, blending solution, craft mat, glossy paper and any other item or items you would like to try the alcohol inks on such as buttons, brads, metal, paper flowers, acetate, etc. You can try several color combinations for some fun backgrounds.
We can share our techniques and supplies. Come join the fun.
THE SPLAT MAT
The splat mat is a must for your craft area! It's a reusable protective sheet that can withstand high temperatures and nothing sticks to it - glue, glitter, ink, wax, solder, hot glue, paint. Everything wipes or peels off. It's a great way to protect your work surface and you don't even notice it's there.
TIP: It's especially handy when using Ranger's Tim Holtz Ink Blending Tool and Distressed Inks. Start your blending on the mat and work onto your project. Your ink will look more natural and you'll avoid getting the rectangle shape of the pad stamped on your project. Clean up with a mist of water.
